Robert McVicar co-founded Acumen Global Partners in 2011. He has worked with global leadership groups, senior executives, division heads, boards, front line managers and SMEs in the areas of leadership development, organisational change and executive coaching and mentoring.

Robert’s interest in this work was initially through sport – track and field athletics. Athletics nurtured an interest into the psychology of performance, which morphed into a personal journey into the behavioural sciences and organisational behaviour.

In 2001, Robert founded a consulting practice working with leaders in the SME sector which evolved into working on larger assignments in the corporate sector – consulting to global leadership teams, leading larger scale leadership and culture change initiatives. He has a demonstrated skill in assisting companies to create the strategies, structures and skills needed to guide companies through organisational change processes. Clients appreciate Robert’s pragmatic and collaborative approach. He has worked throughout Australia, New Zealand, South East Asia and North America, with experience in developing economies, start-ups, across multiple industries. The primary focus in recent years has been in mining, energy and professional services. Clients include; WorleyParsons, Origin Energy, Nyrstar, Contact Energy, Lynas Corporation, VF Asia, Coca Cola Amatil and government clients including Medicare, ATO and various NGOs.

Early in his career, Robert established businesses in health and fitness, services assisting unemployed Australians and services to NFPs – enterprises which provided an opportunity for people to stretch and to know themselves at their best. Robert has held numerous board roles in the NFP sector and leadership roles throughout. As a lifelong student of human potential, Robert is interested in working with leaders and organisations who recognise that the most sustainable source of competitive edge is empowering the organisation to adapt and become innovators of meaningful change.

Robert’s qualifications include a degree in Social Science and a body of related certifications and accreditations from 25 years of ongoing study in human behaviour, Adaptive Leadership, Mediation, Organisation Systems Dynamics, various 360 Leadership Assessments and Tools, group facilitation and applications for organisational change.
